Please be positive and constructive with your questions and comments. Sound board for Lightsaber by Greenkrest on Wed Jul 29, pm Hi, I have been searching for a sound board with mini speakers for lightsaber projects that i have been doing and need help on picking the right one.

What im specially looking for is s board that i can add sounds to as well as having clashing sounds when hit. Im very new to all this and have no idea about them, any help would be greatly appreciated! The inside diameter that i have to work with is 1", and the length varies, it all has to be able to connect to an activation switch which is connected to an Led.

Any suggestions? Thank you. Not sure if you get something to wire into one of the triggers but then also get it to go back to the original sound trigger? Next question can you wire an led through this board as well?

What do you want the LED to do? That way the sound will activate at the same as the LED turns on. Wiring in parallel to the board should work.

Re: Sound board for Lightsaber by phaeogaster on Sun May 15, pm just wondering if you have created a working sound unit for your sabers yet.

All-in-one board has built in LED driver most of them do I believe. Arduino, DFPlayer for audio. Re: Sound board for Lightsaber by phaeogaster on Wed May 18, pm We'll thanks for those tips. So that you understand, what I'm looking to do is create a platform that can be used by kids to construct their own sabers.

This sound board offers huge potential for kids to learn all the steps involved in the construction of a working saber. The l. Some people may want to bridge off from this and have flashing lights during a duel, but I'm more interested in having the ability to research or record sounds, program them to the board, and have them react as the user intends. Anyone with money can buy a pre-made soundboard, their all over the Internet. Not to many kids can afford them though. So after I get the design down, I'll post it to the instructables website and let as many young folks as I can know about it.

Thanks again for the suggestions!! Re: Sound board for Lightsaber by dthartman69 on Mon Jun 27, pm I am going to try building a fx lightsaber sound board using the audio sound fx board and the poor man's accelerometer vibration switches for swing and clash sounds.

I am going to use the latching power switch you offer, but with my own Anti-Vandal switch soldered instead to the breakout board. This is what will power both the LED flicker circuit I built using a timer that pulses at about 60 hz, and the audio board.

I plan to also try the mini amp board to connect the fx board to the speaker, since the combo version is discontinued until the bug is squashed according to the site here.

My concern is how to trigger the HUM loop using a pin that is like 06 for example. See my idea here? Can this be done? Is there any way other than the hard hack here to auto play a WAV file loop when the board is powered on? Or powered off?Watch the above video for details. Adafruit fx mini as lightsaber sound board by Boomcrutch1 on Fri Feb 05, am Hi there, all. I'm building my first ever lightsaber, i'm pretty new to electronics, and have some questions regarding this sound board. For instance, is it possible to have an always running lightsaber hum and have clash sensors play sound? I mean when I trigger the initial switch and it does the startup sound followed by the looped hum, will the clash sensor negate the hum when triggered, or will the looped hum still play?

It can only play one sound at a time. At least one customer was discussing a build using two: One to play the constant hum and another to do triggered clashes. It should be possible to wire a switch so that it can play startup and shutdown sounds. Obviously, the switch can't actually cut power and still play the sound. Thanks for the quick response, and suggestions. Back to the drawing board for me.

Re: Adafruit fx mini as lightsaber sound board by Boomcrutch1 on Mon Feb 08, am That is impressive! Unfortunately a bit above my technical prowess, as i've no experience with arduino or programing.

This is why the adafruit fx was so enticing. Seems I need to get myself an arduino uno kit and get to learning. It would be sweet if you guys made a soundcard for lightsaber building, or at least one that was a bit more to my noob needs.

I still really like adafruit though and have ordered other stuff to use in my construction, ie battery, usb charger, cables It doesn't offer any support for modulating the sound or playing multiple sounds at the same time.

I've been working recently on this project, I've come to some results and I think so far it's pretty interesting.

There is this small community of geeks and fanboys that we like to build Star Wars' Lightsabers hilt replicas and original designs from scrap, or prefab parts from specialized online stores. Until a few months ago there was this problem of providing sound effects to the sabers.

The only options available were to rip off the chips from a Hasbro toy, or an original FX replica, or buy this other expensive but apparently pretty neat electronic sound board somewhere in europe. The latest hasbro toys had an acceptable sound quality but there were poor for modding, and would only be useful for the already effects built in. Tearing apart an original FX replica just for the sound card doesn't make much sense.

So after a lot of thought -somehow :? The advantage would be clear: by basing my design on Arduino I would get an extremely configurable soundboard. And so far I think I was quite right. I based my design on the Waveshield for producing the sound output thanks Ada! So let me know what you think about it.

It's a work in progress, so any design faults you may find in the schematics at my webpage are welcomed. Overall I'm very eager to listen to your general opinion, ideas and suggestions. I was thinking the rgb belt kit could be modified to work as a light saber, but this is way cooler. You should add a switch that plays a "clank" when the sabre is hit. I don't know what they are called, but a vertically mounted spring next to a metal plate would do the trick.

That is what the led wands sold at the fair have inside them. Are do you just want to BUY one? I only ask as there are several high quality sound boards out there already for lightsabers. MasterReplica perhaps? Return to Kitbiz. Show us what you made!
